1988 Toyota Supra MK3
Jon bought this 1988 Toyota Supra MK3 a few years ago when he was in high school. I probably influenced his decision by telling him about a MK2 Supra I had when I was younger. He drove this thing for a few years and really ragged on it, eventually doing damage to the stock 7MGE and automatic transmission. It sat in storage for a year or 2 until we bought the shop so we moved it there. A couple of years ago I bought a 2JZGTE JDM engine from California and we pulled the 7MGE out of the car.
Recently we signed up for a couple of drag and drives, specifically Rocky Mountain Race Week and Redwood Rally with the intent of driving this Supra with its 2JZ. This has caused us to have to buy a ton of parts from suppliers such as Holley, Custom Offsets, SW Performance, Ward Auto Racing, Grannas Racing and Brewed Motorsports to name a few. It has also caused us to try and be more active on social media, so as we install and modify these parts we will be tagging the companies on social media. We will also be updating this posting in some cases and creating new postings in relation to this car as we go forward. Here are a few more pictures to get started.
Couple of things to note here. We used a bunch of pictures from Ward Auto Racing to determine how to mount the 8.8 rear end into the 1988 Supra rear subframe and we bought brand new Drive Shaft Shop level 4 axles from Ward to finish the driveline (finished pics to follow). On the 8 PT roll cage we bought from SW Performance the crossbar is about 2 1/4 inches short after adjusting the main hoop to fit the car. This was pretty disappointing and we have sourced a new bar to replace the short one.
